How to renew SSM online?
If you have a computer and internet connection, you will be able to renew your SSM business in less than 10 minutes!
#1. Fill in your business renewal details
Head to ezBiz official website. Select how many years to renew and whether you require business info document. *Please note that you will require to activate your ezBiz account before you can renew your SSM business.
#2. Make payment online
You can make the payment either for New Business Registration, Changes of Business Particulars or Business Renewal by using a Credit card or FPX (Financial Process Exchange – Online banking) service on ezBiz portal.
#3. Print out your SSM Certificate
Upon successful transaction, your SSM Certificate and Business Info document will be available and you will be able to download from the Renewal History tab. Print out the SSM Certificate and Business Info.
What is the cost to renew SSM online?
The SSM renewal cost depends on the type of business registered, number of renewal years, and number of branches. The following business renewal cost is similar to the walk-in renewal fees at SSM office.
SSM Renewal(Personal Name)
- Personal name is the name that is stated in your identity card.
- Example: Ruslan bin Mohamed, Siow Ah Thai or, Ramasamy a/l Mutusamy.
SSM Renewal(Trade Name)
- Trade Name is the name of the proposed business and must obtain prior approval from the Registrar of Business.
- Example: Kedai Dobi Mewah, Lucky Star Catering or, ABS Unggul Enterprise.
- Please ensure to select the number of branches that are registered under your business.
- An additional RM5 per year is required for each branch of your registered business.
- Please make sure you select “Yes” if you wish to download the Business Info. Additional RM10 will be charged.
- SSM Certificate and Business Info only available for download within 14 days after application approve/success.

The Malaysia Company Commission (SSM) reminds the customers and people to be careful of the existence of websites that use SSM name without permission to gain profit.
No, it is not possible to renew the SSM business after 12 months. Business registrations that expire beyond 12 months will be categorized as expired and non-renewable. If you want to continue your business, you can sign up and register for a new business. You are allowed to apply for the “old” business name if it is not already taken, but still, the business will receive a new SSM registration number.
Renewal of Business Registration can be made for a period of one (1) year and not more than five (5) years.
What happens if I continue to carry on business after the period of business registration has expired?
Based on the general guidelines by Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM), any person who continues to carry on any business after the period of registration has expired commits an offense and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding RM50,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding two (2) years or both.
